This week was Cupcake Week on Martha's show (long live our leader!) so I TIVO'd all of them but was disappointed that Monday didn't tape (??). I watched them all this morning - my heart is still swooning from the demonstrations by Karen Tack whose book Hello, Cupcake! has been on my amazon wish list for way too long. I'm going to buy it after I finish this post because the ideas are FANTASTIC!!
I have a unique attraction to things that look like something else (case in point - my obsession with making things look like little houses). Her ideas are whimsical & fun & charming & super - I loved the "corn" cupcakes and the "peas & carrots" cupcake - I can't wait to get it and make all the fun things in there.
I was also excited to see Jennifer Shea of Trophy Cupcakes profiled - I'm dying to visit her shop during my next trip to Seattle. Not only do the cupcakes look delicious but the pictures I've seen of her shop exude charm. Wallingford was also one of my favorite neighborhoods when I lived there. I wonder if the Bee Liner Diner is still there? We used to eat breakfast there every Sunday morning. It was a hole in the wall, the food was good and they lived their motto "Eat it and beat it!" LOL! I do miss Seattle...we'll get back there one day...
Enough sappy reminiscing - back to the CUPCAKES - so I went to our benevolent leader's website and looked at the Cutest Cupcake Contest entries and saw so many awesome cupcakes!! There is some serious talent out there people. After spending way too many hours looking at all 2071 entries (I'm exhausted!!) here are some of my favorites:
Some were very simple but clever (chocolate chip cookie, caramel apple cupcakes, sea creature cupcakes, heart on a cloud, pie, mini mochaccino, strawberry field, cupcakes on fire, chocolate sundae, bow, april fools meatloaf, happy cupcakes, sweet, birthday girl, pink flower).
Some were more elaborate (tea party, easter bunnies, hello kitty, popcorn bucket, sleeping baby, pizza cakes, happy fishies, tiki bar cupcake, hamburger, cheeseburgers, bacon eggs & hashbrowns, spring garden cupcake, baby flower, popcorn, peapods, stringwork, mouse munch, baby cupcakes, toadstool & worm, sunday bonnets).
This may seem like a lot of links/favorites but 35 out 2071 is not bad! Hope you enjoy them too. I just hope ms.com doesn't move these pictures around then the links will be lost (and I took the time to recheck them all so as of this post date, they were all working). We'll keep our fingers crossed!
Alright peeps, my eyes hurt from sitting at the computer so long and now I want to eat something sweet so I'll catch y'all later.
