So I bought this african violet at Home Depot about 5 years ago. It has never bloomed. Not once. Not after repotting it in a cute little pot. Not after fertilizing it with special african violet food. Not after changing it's location. Not after giving it a little bird friend from Daiso. The greens were always really lush and healthy but alas... no flowers.
Then, the begonia that it shared the table with died (ok I killed it - long, morbid tale) so I took the african violet and placed it on the cake stand where the begonia had been. Turns out - my african violet likes being on a pedestal so to speak and promptly flowered. No special plant food needed. Apparently she just needed to feel important. Don't we all.
